Based on a real BSF counter-terror operation in Kashmir, Ground Zero follows BSF DIG (Retd.) Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey as he leads a high-stakes investigation linked to Ghazi Baba — the mastermind behind India's most devastating terror attacks.
Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Security Force. He is the real officer on whom Ground Zero is based — portrayed by Emraan Hashmi in the film.
Over two relentless years, Dubey and his team tracked Ghazi Baba — the Jaish-e-Mohammed operational chief who masterminded the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. The operation culminated in 2003 with Ghazi Baba's elimination deep inside Kashmir.
During the mission, Dubey was shot multiple times. A bullet remained lodged in his body for the rest of his life — a permanent reminder of his sacrifice. In 2005, the Government of India honoured him with the Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest gallantry award.
